Our Roots, Our Recipes
Nataka Kula -Swahili for “I want to eat“- was born out of a deep love for the vibrant, soulful dishes of Tanzania, East Africa. Lameck, our founder and chef, grew up learning to cook from his mother on the streets of Tanzania—grinding spices by hand, rolling out chapati from scratch, and serving food made with care. After her passing, those early memories stayed with him, fueling a passion that followed him through South Africa, Lesotho, and eventually Buffalo, New York. Each meal we prepare is an echo of those kitchen moments—infused with memory, heritage, and heart.
Since settling in Western New York, Lameck has worked in food service, trained professionally in Culinary Arts, and dreamed of one day sharing the flavors of his homeland. Nataka Kula is the realization of that dream – a name that reflects both the irresistible pull of good food and our invitation for you to join us at the table. We are proud to be the first and only food service in the region focusing on Tanzanian cuisine, offering halal and vegan-friendly options that honor tradition while welcoming all.
